Coriolanus, British actor Ralph Fiennes' directorial debut, has been met with critical acclaim from audiences and critics alike. This adaptation of William Shakespeare's play of the same name tells the story of Coriolanus, a military leader and war hero, who is expelled from Rome because of his opinions. Cast aside by his own nation, and driven by his desire for revenge, Coriolanus collaborates with his arch-enemy, Tull Aufidius, and plots to lead an army against the hated town. Fiennes updates this Shakespearean tale about betrayal and revenge, taking it out of ancient Rome and placing it in the present, thus giving it some of the attributes of an action film. The film features excellent performances by classical Shakespearean actors Ralph Fiennes, Brian Cox and Vanessa Redgrave.
