During a short visit to Buenos Aires, Maria overhears a children's song, somehow familiar to her, which unexpectedly brings her to tears. Even though she doesn't speak a word of Spanish, the peculiar melody and familiar words have a great impact on her. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Maria must stay in town longer than she has planned. When her father arrives from Germany without warning, a thread of events revealing her true origin begins to unwind. All of a sudden, Maria is forced to deal with the fact that nothing in her life is as she had originally thought, and that her closest relatives are, in fact, strangers. This German film is an unassuming but compelling drama about family secrets.
